Wallace advises shareholders of Peppermint Events on its merger with Conviviality Retail

Wallace has recently advised the shareholders of Peppermint Events on the acquisition by Matthew Clark, a subsidiary of Conviviality Retail, of a majority stake in the London-based bar and events company. Peppermint was founded 13 years ago, it services more than 40 events annually, primarily providing bar services to outdoor events, including British Summer Time in Hyde Park, Henley Regatta, The Rugby World Cup and the Commonwealth Games.

Conviviality Retail owns the UK’s largest franchised off-licence and convenience chain. It operates 624 stores (as at April 2015) predominantly trading under the Bargain Booze, Bargain Booze Select Convenience and Wine Rack brands.

The extensive portfolio choice which Conviviality Plc can provide will strengthen Peppermint’s offer to its current and prospective customers. Peppermint will continue to operate as an independent business.

Alex Brooke and Adam Hempenstall, founding directors of Peppermint commented:

“Now the deal has completed, we’re ready to kick off 2016 as we mean to go on - and drive the business on to the next level of growth with our exciting new partners. With Matthew Clark and Conviviality we have a Treasure Trove of value-adds to bring to the table, such as brand partnerships, the ultimate in product choice, activation tours and multi-channel sponsorship.”

“Wallace were extremely professional and supportive through the whole process. It’s not every day you go through this process and they ensured it was as smooth and streamlined as possible, particularly as we had a tight timeframe.”

John Woodhouse and Charlotte Wheeldon led the Wallace team.
