Our team has many years of assisting clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, together with inheritance tax advice and succession planning. Our team advises high net worth and non-domiciled individuals in relation to their UK and international assets as well as families, entrepreneurs and business owners. The team also advises on the creation of charitable organisations.
Our expertise includes advising on the following:
Wills
A Will allows you to control who will inherit your assets on death, appoint guardians for minor children, protect vulnerable beneficiaries, create trusts to save inheritance tax and protect assets for future generations. Whether you require a simple Will to deal with your UK assets, or a more complex Will incorporating tax planning trust structures or tailored to your non-domiciled status, we can prepare a Will to meet your individual needs and circumstances.
Trusts
We have built significant expertise in providing trust advice over several years and advise on all aspects of trust law. This includes advising settlors, trustees and beneficiaries in relation to the governance and administration of trusts, as well as creating bespoke trusts structures to mitigate inheritance tax, protect assets and ensure effective succession planning for future generations. This expertise also extends to the creation of tax efficient property trusts specifically tailored to property investors and owners of second homes.
Wealth & Inheritance Tax Planning
We have extensive experience in creating bespoke estate plans for families, business owners and UK and non-UK domiciled individuals. This includes creating trust structures during your lifetime or as part of your will and advising on lifetime gifting and tax planning strategies.
Charity & Philanthropy
For those making charitable donations or wishing to set up charities and non-profit organisations operating in the UK or overseas, we can provide advice on the creation, governance and administration of charitable companies, charitable trusts, foundations, CIOs and social enterprises. This can be as part of your estate planning, or as a stand-alone philanthropic project.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
It is essential to have a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place to allow your finances to be dealt with and decisions made in relation to your care in the event you were to lose mental capacity. An LPA allows you to appoint someone you trust, such as a friend or loved one, to act as your attorney and deal with your property and finances, as well as make decisions in relation to your health and welfare (in particular, in relation to whether you wish to receive life sustaining treatment). Making an LPA can also avoid a potentially costly and time-consuming application to the Court of Protection. We can assist you in the preparation of both types of LPA and act as your certificate provider if required.
