Michael joined Wallace as a partner in our Property team in June 2024. Michael is dual qualified in the UK and Australia and has previously worked at a number of large global firms both in London and Sydney. He advises on all aspects of commercial property work including sale, acquisition, funding and letting of commercial property, and has a particular expertise in secured lending and development work.

Michael also regularly supports corporate colleagues by advising on the property aspects of merger, acquisitions and equity investments.

Michael’s wide experience in different jurisdictions, and a commercial approach to transactions, enables him to guide clients through complex property transactions in an efficient manner.

 

Work Highlights

  • Advising international fast food brand Papa Johns on its property portfolio of circa 600 stores including drafting and advising upon all aspects of acquisition or lease documentation, including advising on estate management matters.

  • Advising a US self-storage operator on the acquisition and development of a number of self-storage facilities across the UK.

  • Working with a London based developer in the acquisition and development of sites across the UK, including drive thrus, convenience stores and neighbourhood shopping centres and dealing with disposals, often on a forward funding basis.

  • Advising a Middle Eastern bank in respect of development finance secured against residential and commercial development sites in the UK, including the preparation and completion of security documentation.

  • Acting for a well-known European airline in its estate management including reviewing, negotiating and completing lease documentation at numerous UK and European airports and dealing with their head office requirements.

  • Acting for a Central London based pub and hotel operator in the acquisition and development of several pubs situated within zone 1.

  • Acquiring and dealing with the pre-let of a 300 room hotel in London, including dealing with associated planning and asset protection agreements with TFL and Greenwich Council.

  • Acting for a number of private investor landlords with the management of their properties, together with acting for a number of retail tenants.
