Andrew is a senior associate and employed barrister whose practice focuses on complex commercial and corporate disputes, both by way of litigation and arbitration. He represents clients in a wide variety of sectors, including financial services, commodities, technology, and private equity.

Andrew routinely advises on cases which are cross-border in nature, and which involve allegations of fraud or other alleged wrongdoing. Andrew also has significant experience of freezing orders and other applications for urgent injunctive relief. Andrew is often instructed at an early stage in order to mitigate or avoid litigation.

Andrew also advises companies in relation to compliance and governance issues such as anti-money laundering, corruption compliance, and financial sanctions.

Andrew joined Wallace in 2023, having spent over 6 years at a leading international law firm, prior to which he practised at the self-employed Bar.

 

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Acting for seven Panamanian incorporated entities in their defence of large-scale international Court proceedings valued at approximately £3 billion ongoing in several jurisdictions, including the English High Court, Monaco, Panama, Montenegro, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA, Cyprus, Latvia, Russia and several other countries, relating to the assets and dealings of prominent Russian businessman Oleg Bourlakov, who died in 2021.

  • Acting for a Bahamas based private equity fund in respect of an array of proceedings commenced in England, Switzerland, Bahamas and Cote d'Ivoire concerning valuable nickel assets in Latin America, West Africa and the Balkans.

  • Representing a commodities producer in defence of Commercial Court and arbitration proceedings concerning a disputed exclusive offtake agreement, including contested proceedings for urgent injunctive relief.

  • Representing a UK asset manager in defence of high value bribery claims brought by a Middle Eastern investor in the Commercial Court.

  • Acting for an Irish alternative investment fund in connection with proceedings in the Commercial Court to recover misappropriated assets, including obtaining a worldwide freezing order.

  • Advising a litigation funder in Commercial Court proceedings in relation to a disputed loan agreement.    

  • Advising a private equity fund in connection with a dispute with a third party as to the ultimate ownership of the assets held by the fund.

  • Advising in relation to various post-acquisition disputes such as misrepresentation claims, breach of warranty and indemnity claims, and earn-out disputes.
